Bhopal Gas Tragedy and the usual suspects

It took around 25 years to book the culprits of the Bhopal Gas disaster which filled the city with graves. as thousands of people died in the gas leak belonging to DOW chemicals , the chairman of the company Warren Anderson was given a safe passage to move out of the country at the behest of the then PM and a powerful minister. This is not unusual in a country like India where the poor still feels suppressed and reppresed while the elite and those in power take the laws of the country for a ride. No doubt then that we see the naxalite problem ! increasing by the day which has become now the biggest internal security threat as achknowledged by the Indian government.
True the Indian economy is growing. It is growing at a healthy pace of 7.5 5 and cinsistently. This is driving the economy of the country as it struggles to build world class infrastructure and feed its one billion of people. BUt how many of the people are getting benefitted by this upturn in the economy. Well no doubt there has been a sea change in the middle and urban class of the population. But they constitute only part of the population. Still million s in India reside in rural areas and rely on agriculture and other low earning fields. The farmer in certain areas of Maharata and andra pradesh still have to commit suicide in their ability to pay back the loan which they borrowed from the banks or the landlord. So it is still a far way for the country when the benefits of the rising economy percolates down the channel.
Untill that happens the poor will continue to suffer. and the richest of the rich, the politicians, the bureacrats and the middleman they will all continue to play with the laws of the land and amass huge black money in some of the swiss banks and the likes.
It is difficult to get tears in the eyes in the country when u see so much happening 24x7 and round the year.
